October 2020 Liberia
The Founder of Tomorrow foundation was in Liberia on October 12 to meet local institutions and organizations involved in education and economic development programs to consider the development of initiatives related to youth entrepreneurship and education in the country.
During her stay, our founder had the great honor to visit with the First Lady Clar Marie Weah the construction site of the City of Hope in Marshall, Margibi County, a project launched on 20th June 2019, by the First Lady’s Clar Hope Foundation.
The City of Hope intends to be a refuge and a rehabilitation center for young less fortunate Liberians including street girls from 3 to 5 years old. The facility includes student accommodations, academic school buildings, sport centre with swimming pool, guest houses and clinic with a total 300-students capacity. The project is expected to be completed in June 2021 and 75% of the total buildings have already been constructed.
Tomorrow Foundation was impressed by the works accomplished and the determination of local teams met during the visit.
Liberia is a Western Africa low income country with a population of 5 million inhabitants. More than 60% of the population is under the age of 25. It is richly endowed with water, mineral resources, forests and has a climate favorable for agriculture. It mainly exports iron ore, rubber, diamonds, and gold. Diversification of the economy, development of infrastructures, institutions, medical sector and family planning, as well as security maintenance are the keys for the future growth of the country.
